At-Home Beauty Series: Skin

Invest in your Skin…. It’s going to represent you for a long time

So to get things in some kind of order, I decided to start posting monthly series instead of random topics all the time. There will still be pop up topics, but I want to make sure that I’m giving you something that you need and want to hear. Let’s talk about skincare. I’ve never considered myself to have “good skin”. It has always in my opinion taken a lot of work just to minimize breakouts and maintain an overall tone for my skin.  I have always struggled with two things. The first is skin discoloration. The areas around my cheekbones have always been a little different in color from the rest of my face. The second is the dryness of my skin. After being outdoors my skin would eventually feel extremely itchy and flaky. At first, I thought it may have been eczema but once I starting using a consistent moisturizer it helped. Turns out that #1 I was allergic to grass and pollen, #2 I had the driest skin in history. Side Note: I am not a medical professional and I am just describing the current day to day products that I use. These do not include my monthly mask and let us just be clear, my skincare regime depends on my coins at the time. I’ve used the Fashion Fair system but I am not sure if they still carry this in the stores anymore. One of the best department store skincare systems that I have used is the “Clinique Great Skin Everywhere System” because we want great skin everywhere right?

Anywho, here are the products that I use every day:

Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

Nivea Face Moisturizer

Cetaphil Redness Prone Skin Foaming Face Wash (As needed)

T.N Dickinson’s Witch Hazel: 100% Natural Astringent

I am a huge fan of drugstore beauty finds. These products can be purchased at Ulta, Target, or Walmart. The witch hazel is used to remove any excess on your face after the cleanser. I pay special attention to this after taking off makeup. These are no substitutes for healthy eating and drinking your water but they assist with maintaining some of the issues I mentioned above. What are some of your Beauty basics? Comment and let me know! Maybe I will give some of those a try. Hit the subscribe button and come back for Part 2 of this series!!

Pageant Tip: When preparing for a pageant, I drink a gallon of distilled water per day. Your girl skin be looking like GOD himself reached down and touched me on the cheek!

    • Make sure that you have a good cleanser and moisturizer. Aveeno has a really good completion line and you can get it at Walmart or Target!

  1. I use cetaphil anti bacterial soap to cleanse my face, sometimes I apply the soap with a woven facial buff And gently cleanse my face and then I apply Nivea face moisturizer before bed. This is only at night. Morning time I use only clear water to rinse my face and I pat it dry. That is my beauty basic. 😘
